Virginia State Programs

The Northern Neck Soil & Water Conservation District (NNSWCD) administers at a local level the state Agricultural Best Management Practice (BMP) Cost-Share Program of the VA Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) and assists Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) with federal USDA cost-share programs.

Northern Neck

The Virginia Agricultural BMP Program provides funds and/or state tax credits for the installation of conservation practices preventing soil erosion and runoff which contribute to water-quality degradation in streams, rivers, and the Bay. The program offers 45 different practices that can assist landowners and producers in maintaining soil on the land with consequent benefits to crop production and water quality.
